Understanding WSQ Accreditation

Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that trains, develops, assesses and certifies skills and competencies for the workforce. Developed and managed by SkillsFuture Singapore, this initiative is a key part of Singapore’s broader national effort to encourage lifelong learning and to support the nation's vision of a strong, resilient, and future-ready workforce.

How Does This Benefit Learners?

With this milestone, learners who graduate from our technical skills courses will be awarded nationally recognised WSQ certificates that can be used to demonstrate their skillsets to employers.

While we at Hatch Academy focuses on equipping learners with in-demand and up-to-date skills that can be demonstrably articulated through an industry-relevant portfolio, we believe there is still value in obtaining an additional certificate, and it could be useful in reaching employers with a more traditional view towards credentials.

‍

Moreover, this change will allow learners to tap into a range of subsidies to ease the financial barriers to upskilling. Depending on one’s nationality and age, learners can receive subsidies of between 50 - 70% off the net course fees, and the remainder can also be offset through one’s SkillsFuture Credits balance, Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA), or NTUC’s Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP). Combined, the support here can really be quite substantial, especially for our target audience who are usually younger and more price sensitive.
